2015 Chrysler 200 Release Date
The Chrysler Group just unveiled the redesigned Chrysler 200 at the Detroit Auto show, and all it takes is a quick glance at the 2014 Chrysler 200 model next to the upcoming model to see that the sedan has gotten a major overhaul. In addition to the reveal, an estimate of the 2015 Chrysler 200 release date has been announced. An exact date hasn’t been provided, but the automaker did say that the redesigned 200 will hit showroom floors in the second quarter of 2014, meaning we’re not far off from getting the 2015 Chrysler 200 in Lawrence, KS. Let’s take a look at some of the changes for the upcoming 200’s power and drivechain.
Arguably the most important feature under the hood of the all-new 200 is the segment-first nine-speed automatic transmission which will greatly increase the sedan’s fuel efficiency and performance. The transmission will be paired with the choice of one of two engines. The 200 will come standard with a 2.4-liter MulitAir2 Tigershark inline four-cylinder engine that will produce an output of 184 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. We have a good feeling that it will be extremely efficient with the new transmission.
Manufacturers have had some delays with the nine-speed transmission, but we would assume it will be the same transmission in the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, meaning that by the time that the all-new 200 arrives all the kinks will be worked out. Official ratings haven’t been released yet but the Chrysler Group has said that the paring of the four-cylinder engine with the revolutionary transmission will deliver an estimated fuel economy improvement of up to 13 percent.
As we expected, the 200 will also be available with the award-winning power of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 that continues to find its way into the noses of vehicles in the Chrysler lineup. The engine is capable of producing a best-in-class 295 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, so all of the power junkies can rest assured that the 200 will still be quick for those who want it to be.
Yet another new addition to the 2015 Chrysler 200 is an available all-wheel drivetrain system which will add to the performance and safety of the sedan by providing improved traction and enhanced driving dynamics. All-wheel drive systems typically lower efficiency, but with rear-axle disconnect, the AWD system only kicks in when absolutely necessary, allowing the 200 to automatically switch between front- and all-wheel drive to conserve efficiency.
The full list of specs and features for the all-new 200 have been released and we will continue to provide you with more information on the redesigned sedan as the 2015 Chrysler 200 release date approaches.
